Madeira - Portugal
We drove around Maderia on winding roads with drops down to the rocky shores of the sea. The island's highest point is roughly 1,800 meters above sea level, and on the way up the climate and vegetation change all the time. Once up on the plateau, we were greeted by a fantastic landscape at the same height as the clouds and with lonely winding roads.

Svartskogskär - Sweden
We were out in the Swedish archipelago by boat and docked overnight at the island of Svartskogskär. Around midnight I took my camera and a tripod up to the highest point on the island and took this picture with a slow shutter speed. In the background you can see the town of Oxelösund with its harbour.

I don't normally take so many portraits, more often landscape and nature photos. This is one of my first photos with studio flashes. The model and I tried a few different poses, but I stuck with this shot when she turned towards the camera while I pressed the camera shutter button. The picture was taken with two studio flashes with softboxes.

Norrköping - Sweden
A little way outside the city of Norrköping is Djurön, a peninsula that stretches out to sea. The light here is often amazing and it is often a place I return to with my camera. I took this picture just after Midsummer around 10 p.m. on the night. It hardly ever gets dark at night at that time and the fog was just beginning to settle over the fields.

Kolmården - Sweden
It was a September evening when I was out driving my car. This particular evening I was driving on several smaller roads that I had not been on before, when I suddenly caught a glimpse of a forest lake some distance from the road. I stopped and made my way down to the lake just in time as a fantastic light spread over the lake as the sun set. Everything was completely quiet and peaceful. A magical moment and a very nice nature experience.

I am often out in the Swedish archipelago. There are incredible nature experiences, especially during the summer months. I took this picture late in August and late at night. There was very nice light and nice colors in the sky, but I didn't have a tripod with me so I couldn't hold the camera still enough for a picture. I tried panning with the camera instead and with a slightly longer shutter speed. Although the picture was deliberately blurred, it describes the feeling and experience I had right there in the archipelago on a late August evening.

It was an early October morning and I had gone out to Djurön, a peninsula that stretches out to sea outside the city of Norrköping. It's a place I often return to with my camera. Here there is a fantastic oak landscape within a nature reserve, and at this time of year the old oaks light up the landscape with their colorful leaf crowns.

Mats Gripenblad - I am a photographer from Sweden based in the beautiful city of Norrköping. I mainly photograph nature, landscape and architecture images, but I also do some portraits as well. I constantly seek to capture the light and moods in my pictures. Often, I can come back to the same place a several times and discover how the light changes with the various seasons, but also to find new motives.
In the series "The city of Norrköping" I have photographed Norrköping, which is a beautiful and creative city, and with the wonderful light that is present in early mornings, late evenings and dark nights. I have had several exhibitions with my photos of the city and you can see some of them on this site. Find more pictures of me on 500px
